Getting a foot in the door of the publishing world is notoriously difficult. Often, writers are kept outside not because their work is flawed in some deep way, but because they are missing a few little things that publishers immediately notice.

Open only during brief windows each year, our "Publishing Concierge" service gives you a publisher's eye view of your book so far. We'll show you both the strengths and the weaknesses, and help you discover opportunities in your work that you may have missed.

Send your work into our senior editors, and you will receive a forthright document designed to help you get your work commercially published and identify what impediments there might be for you to overcome and how you can build upon your strengths.

Depending on your current progress and level of commitment, our experienced commercial publishers can either show you the path, or walk with you side by side as you journey towards becoming a contracted and published author in 2021.

Our Story:

Exisle Publishing was founded in the early 1990s with the mission of giving a voice to writers whom the mainstream often overlooked. Ironically, we've since become something of a mainstream publisher ourselves, with branches in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom, and a successful children's imprint, EK Books.

But we haven't forgotten our roots, and our mission. With Exisle Academy we want to guide people who have a message, who have something to say, but who may not yet have the knowledge, experience and industry contacts, along the path to making their book the success it deserves to be.

   Sign-up with the button below - Please note, this service is only upon once or twice a year during brief, select intervals when our publishing and editorial staff have the time available. Outside of these windows, the sign-up button will be removed and this page will be closed.
   
   
2. Send In Your Manuscript, Outline or Sample Chapters to Our Editorial Team
   
   As soon as you sign-up, you will be given the private email address of an Editorial Administrator who will be in charge of making sure your manuscript reaches the right hands, and answering any questions you may have. You do not need to have a finished manuscript - we will work with whatever you have right now, but of course, the more you can send, the better.
   
   
3. Receive A Document With Concise, Meaningful and Actionable Feedback on Your Book
   
   Our Editorial Administrator will first read the material you have sent, and then assign you to a senior editor from either Exisle Publishing or EK Books. This editor will also read what you have provided, and write up their feedback in a concise, meaningful one or two page document. Your forthright review is designed to help you get your work commercially published and identify what impediments there may be to be overcome and to build upon your strengths.
   
   The entire process so far typically takes 7 to 21 days depending on the complexity of your book. An editor will be in touch with you and keep you up to date.
   
   
4. [Optional] Work Closely With Your Experienced Publishing Mentor to Implement Strategic Changes and Enhance Your Publishing Potential
   
   Some authors prefer to implement the suggestions themselves. Others appreciate having an experienced mentor on hand to offer ongoing support and friendly guidance as you action the advice we have provided you with in step 3 above. If you choose to book this additional step (select with the buttons below) your mentor will be directly available to you until the end of March 2021 to read and review the changes you make and provide timely and thoughtful replies via email. You can also book a one-hour-long Skype/Zoom call with your mentor in March to review your progress so far and ask any questions you may have about your book, your pitch, and the publishing process in general.

Exisle Publishing and EK Books are boutique, traditional publishers who accept authors on merit only and pay our authors a competitive, industry-standard royalties. We typically receive thousands of submissions per year, yet publish only about 20 non-fiction and 12 children's titles annually. This means we are unable to respond to the majority of people who send manuscripts to us.

Being a "Publishing Concierge" service puts you in direct contact with the very editors who make editorial decisions at Exisle and EK Books. While this does not guarantee we will publish your book, we do allow all Exisle Academy customers to skip the queue and receive clear answers and detailed feedback - if we feel something isn't working, we'll explain to you why and give you the steps you need to correct it. This is one of the reasons why several Academy students have gone on to receive publishing contracts with Exisle Publishing and EK Books - you become part of our extended family as soon as you register as a student.
