UPDATE: "Passed Down" is now closed. Winners will be announced in early August. Please subscribe to our newsletter and follow our Facebook page to hear about our next competition.
Dear Writer,
Our second writing competition of 2021 explores the many things that generations pass down to the next. This can include objects, but we are also looking forward to reading entries about memories, traditions, ideas, beliefs, loves, hates, prejudices, wisdom, forgiveness and more. You may consider answering the question: How were things passed down to you? And was it for the better, or for the worse?
We are offering three prizes of $150 USD, one for each of the three genres Exisle Academy works in: Fiction, Non-Fiction, and Children's. Winners will also have their work published on ExisleAcademy.com and shared with our global community.
How to Enter The "Passed Down" Writing Competition
Write no more than 1500 words in any genre about one thing that was passed to you, or your character and how that makes you feel and what that did to affect your life. Please submit only your own unique work that has not been published anywhere else. Multiple entries are accepted, and writers from around the world are welcome to participate.
Entries will be evaluated by senior editors from the Exisle Publishing and EK Books teams. The judges will be looking for a clear and crisp interpretation of the Competition’s' title and stimulating original work that is thought provoking and enjoyable.
Standard entry is free. Writers looking to improve their craft may also choose to pay for an "Assessed Entry." This means that, regardless of the outcome of the competition, you will receive detailed and helpful feedback on your story from a competition judge. Both standard and assessed entries will be evaluated entirely on their merits.
Entries close on July 15, 2021. The winner and finalists will be announced late August.

All entries will be assessed entirely on their merits. Detailed submission instructions will be provided on the next page when you select your preferred option above. We aim to provide feedback to all "Assessed" submissions in early August, however if the volume of entry is exceptionally high this may stretch over to September for later entries. The earlier you submit your story, the earlier you will receive feedback.
By submitting a story, you confirm that it is your original work, you own the copyright, and you give Exisle Publishing permission to publish it on ExisleAcademy.com and any associated promotional items should you win or be selected as a finalist. You also confirm it has not previously been published elsewhere online or in print, nor selected for any other competition. Entry is open to writers from around the world, and subject to our Competition Terms & Conditions >>
