Dear writers,
As we trudged through another year in the COVID pandemic, the writing world thrived. In 2021, we shared various blog posts with the community, to be used as foundational building blocks to their manuscript and writing process. We explained how to uncover one’s writing niche. We shared our tips for editing your writing like a pro. We offered advice on navigating social media as a writer. We shared how to win a writing competition. Of course, we discussed how to navigate the inevitable for a writer, rejection.
Throughout the year we held writing competitions with submissions from all over the world. We held the “Passed Down” writing competition, with three winners in children’s, fiction, and nonfiction. We rounded the year out with the “Undiscovered Gems” competition, encouraging writers to write a short story based on their unpublished book. The winners of the competition will be announced early next year.
We also had two Exisle Academy students whose manuscripts were selected for publication by EK Books and Exisle Publishing. In October, we celebrated the release of Cookie by Isabelle Duff. A children’s book tackling depression with sweet illustrations and the joyful perspective from Cookie, the dog. Christine Lister, an Exisle Academy student, will see her book, The Goddesses in You, published in May 2022. You can read her review of Exisle Academy’s writing mentorship program that led to her book deal.
Looking forward to making progress on your book starting the new year? There will be more opportunities to learn with us soon! Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and follow us on Facebook for updates, writing prompts, and the occasional funny cartoon.
Thank you, dear writers, for making this year a productive and successful one. Happy holidays and happy writing!
